Cheri Reidy, R.AcRegistered Acupuncturist
I chose this career path because I had a long interest in complimentary and alternative medicine due to my own health challenges. When I had children who also had health and learning problems I could not find the answers in Western Medicine. I traveled to China in 1995 and while on tour with an NGO during the United Nations Women's Conference I was able to visit some hospitals. What struck me was the comprehensive treatment of the whole person.
While in hospital, a patient received the best of Western Medicine plus acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tuina (massage), and medical Qi Gong (breath work, visualization, movement, and meditation). On my return, it was to be several years before I was to able to immerse in study. Even though my children were grown I still wanted to help them. Helping my patients and their children to avoid the pain, confusion, and suffering of unanswered health questions is my greatest fulfillment. |
